(LibertySociety.com) – While it’s unclear whether President Joe Biden will run for re-election in 2024, Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT) said he hasn’t ruled out running for the position again if the current leader decides to step aside. The Vermont legislator already tried for the job in 2016, where he came second to former presidential hopeful Hillary Clinton in the primary. Sanders tried again in 2020, but lost the primary election to Biden.
According to a memo shared with The Washington Post on April 20, the lawmaker’s previous campaign manager in 2020 advised all questions of the senator should bear in mind that he could make a presidential run in 2024. Sanders’ spokesperson, Mike Casca, said it was frustrating to learn the memo was shared with the media but confirmed the rumor was true.

Although Sanders has a pretty strong following among those who agree with his socialist views, Democrats worry a run by the Vermont senator will hurt their party in the general election. The possibility may be a moot point since the president already indicated he’d likely run for re-election, but he also said he doesn’t plan that far ahead.
Would you vote for Sanders if he ran for the Oval Office again? What do you think of the possibility?
